夕方になると、周囲の山から湿った空気がゆっくりと立ち上り、太陽を包んでいく。夏の強い日差しが、穏やかな光へと変わる。これらの写真は、そんな時間帯に南フランスの家のプールのそばで撮った。
形と影の戯れを楽しみながら、その光と向き合いたかった。ポケットに入っていたものなどをあちこちに置いてみては、そこから何が生まれるかを見る。そうしているうちに、まるで素材や形そのものと対話しているような気がしてきた。
In the evening, moist air slowly rises from the surrounding mountains, gradually covering the sun. The intense summer sunlight softens into a gentler glow. These photographs were taken at that time of day beside the pool of our house in the south of France.
I wanted to work with that light, enjoying the play of form and shadow. I love walking around with random objects in my pockets, arranging them here and there and seeing what emerges. As I played with them, it began to feel as though I were in conversation with the materials and forms themselves.
